I just love EVERYTHING about this idea, Kate. Also to note, I found myself halfway up a big hill looking for a bakery called Kate’s bread, in Ojai last week.. I finally arrived at someone’s house! unfortunately she hadn’t baked on that day but sounds similar to the bakery you mention here. I can 100% visualise this idea of your tiny store. Keep moving forward 💜
Thank you so much Vicky. I just checked out Kate’s bread, it looks lovely, so sad that she she hadn’t baked when you visited. I always love making these small special discoveries 💛
'Creativity often thrives within constraints' - isn't that just the truth! I have designed our family home and the agony of choosing all the details for some of the rooms has been due in large part to some advice I took to heart (you can read about this on Sunday when it gets published) and also due to there being SO many choices when you are starting from scratch. The confines of a renovation are far more suitable for decision making lols. Gosh I hope you create your shop of your dreams one day Kate - I would love to visit x
Thank you so much for your comment Lisa, I will definitely go and check out your post. The paradox of choice is such a thing, I could easily spend all of my time in the research phase. I once took some kind of personality test and discovered that I was an ‘incubator’ which is so true. My favourite place is sitting in the percolating stage but alas leads to little productivity! Wishing you all the luck with both your re-design and your substack
Favourites that spring to mind are, Merci in Paris, Couverture & The Garb Store in London, Atelier Sukha and Stilleven in Holland, Stilleben in Copenhagen. Also I would include Liberty in London and I loved Colette in Paris before it closed and The Basic Store in London

Can't wait to buy something new. Excited for the stationary department!
So excited for this department too! Planning on small packs of hand printed floral cards for the first collection so should be right up your street x
I’d love to see your list of shops that inspired you! X
